Earth anchors are great devices for anchoring objects to the ground. They are great for anchoring greenhouses, garden sheds, and other outdoor objects that need to be anchored. If an object is not anchored, it can be susceptible to being blown over by strong winds. Earth anchors are very inexpensive and sturdy. The typical homeowner can install earth anchors with ease.
step 1
Clear an area around the structure you want to anchor down with earth anchors. You need to access the ground to pound the earth anchors in.
Step 2
Take an earth anchor and set it on the ground about 6 inches from a corner of the structure. Now place the steel drive inside the anchor and hammer it down into the ground. The anchor is pounded all the way in when the cable end is barely above ground level.
Step 3
Remove the steel drive and insert it into the looped end of the cable. Lock the anchor into the horizontal position by pulling on the cable until only 2 to 3 inches are out of the ground.
Step 4
Insert the fastening device through looped end. Depending on what kind of structure you have, it can either be a bolt or a lag screw. Secure the cable to the structure by tightening the bolt or screwing in the screw. Ensure washers are fitted between the fastening device and the structure.
